This is my own personal opinion, of course, but I think the punishment should fit the Crime. I don't believe that Capital Punishment should be used on a regular basis. There are instances however, that require special circumstances. Each case should be taken in context, and the final punishment should fit the crime. Saddam Hussein, in my opinion, definitely deserved his punishment. There are documented, numerous, atrocities against HIS own people. He felt he WAS the Iraqi people, and yet he treated them worse than his worst enemy. The torture and deaths of countless Iraqis should be taken into account before anyone should say whether his sentence was Just.
I feel that people should put themselves into the positions of the victims. Try to assess how they would feel if they had a loved one tortured and killed, just because they didn't agree with Saddam.
I feel everyone has a right to their opinion, and in America, we have the right to express them, but in Iraq, you HAD NO RIGHTS.
I am sorry for the loss of another life, but I am not sorry that a person as cruel and ruthless as Saddam has been brought to justice. It was an Iraqi trial, and Iraqi verdict, and an Iraqi sentence. Let them have their justice, even if you do not agree.

Saddam Hussein said don't hate.
Let's all take 1/4 of a second to think of the 'good' he's done for the world.
Now let's remember his well-earned legacy of thousands dead of a murderous dictator.
Just another reason for a "Happy New Year"

you need to grow up and start thinking more along the line , that if he killed your family you would have no objection about the hanging of Suddam Hussein. Lets be realistic here many murderers are running loose because people think ist inhumane to execute them. And while we are at home with out thumbs up our @$$e$ people are dying, for those most stupid things. Why not retaliate against those fools and maybe we can have a better world in which to raise our precious children.!

You have no idea about who Saddam Hussein was do you. You hate the people who executed him? Saddam Hussein used chemical weapons against his own people. He had rape rooms. He had children's prisons. He had torture prisons. He had entire towns killed. He killed the fathers of his own grandchildren. Hundreds of thousands of people found in mass graves. He built himself palaces as his own people starved. Some estimate he killed two million of his own people. He stands with Stalin and HItler yet you hate those who executed him.

You are funny, and you make me laugh. I think hanging was too good for him. They should have brought the old drawn and quartered method of execution for him, and televised it worldwide. They could have sold tickets to be there live and witness it, and they would have sold out the biggest arena in the world.
Other ways that would have been better than hanging -
Use a chainsaw and cut off little bits, starting at the toes and working up.
Tie him to a pole in Iraq and let the Iraqis stone him.
Tie him to a pole and let everyone line up and take a swing at him. (kind of like that scene in the movie 'Airplane'.)
The list could go on and on.
Plus, Missy, hate is a strong word. You shouldn't hate people. it'll give you early wrinkles.

I cannot hate those who killed him but i must admit that doing that horrible crime in 21th century is such a narrow minded act of the contemporary people.I strongly believe that a better punishment for him was prison...after all he was 70.

You what? He had to be killed there was no other option, if he lived people might try and free him or get him back in power, or think that it is acceptable to do such things. In his country under his law then he should be executed. At least now he's being delivered back to God to punish him as He feels fit.
