yes - we've used our ps2 to play DVD's for the past 3 years- some of them don't play for whatever reason but most of them are fine - we just have to turn the volume up really loud as the sound quality is a bit iffy.

yes, but its not good for it. ps2's are fragile enough as it is... playing DVD's wears them out quicker. better to just buy a $50 DVD player.

Yes, I use mine as a DVD player all the time. Just put in the CD and turn it on and it should work automatically. Use the controller as the remote, unless you have a universal remote that will work on it.

yes u can, but be careful of dvd dics you're playing don't use pirated, it makes damage the ps2 and other player
