florida rules for handicapped parking:
1. be over age 55 and/or,
2. be as fat as possible, and/or
3. be lazy (the really handicapped people in FL never use the handicapped spaces!)
4. go to any doctor, they hand them out like candy in FL.

I have a handicapped parking permit in WA state. My doctor had to approve it by filling out the paperwork he had at his office. After he filled out his section, the application was given to me I then went to my local court house, to the licensing department, and they gave me my two placards and an ID card was sent to me in the mail. My parking permits are good in any state that I happen to be in too. Mine is a permanent one, good for 5 years. There are temporary ones also, but those have to be renewed every 6 months.

There was no cost involved.

As a side note to the smart asses who answered this question with rudeness and distain, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

You have to get a permission from your doctor then take it to the DMV and they will issue you a handicap parking. I don't know the cost though.

Make one yourself. Takes maybe 10 minutes in MSPaint and then print out 2 sides and tape them together. No one really checks your numbers, just copy someone elses if you feel like it will matter. Im 19 and Ive had a fake one since the day I turned 16 =)
