Saddam committed crimes against the iraqi people and was put on trial by the Iraqi people. He has been punished in accordance with the laws he set up. Now the Iraqi people will be able to move on, and hopefully develop new laws and customs in step with the modern world.
As far as the nay sayers and Bush bashers who also attempted to answer the question... you have NO IDEA what you are talking about. Come over here and meet the Iraqi people. See the oil pipelines that ARE NOT controlled by George W. Bush. I'll show you the IRANIAN and SYRIAN weapons being used against Iraqi civilians and American Soldiers. This is NOT a civil war... it is deliberate attacks terrorists armed and financed by outside influences from Iran, Syria and others and being directed by Al-Qieda.

What has happened is thoroughly unacceptable. TWO MIGHTY wicked men caught and executed a horribly EVIL TYRANT. It is a shame that decent people have to live in these days of totally immoral milieu. Does anyone stop to think the devastation caused by this dastardly act of aggression? That Saddam was an enemy of all civilised values of human socity is not the point, but two men have caused so much of human misery-think of the destruction of life they have caused ! Surely there was some other humane way of solving this problem? And a sideways thought: they still have not caught Bin Laden! The world will still see the rise of new dictators.

Absolutely nothing...And killing Saddam was definitely not "an important milestone on Iraq's course to becoming a democracy ",actually I am afraid it could be a step back...the violence will increase and so will the number of deaths...because now they are going to be more people who will want to revenge his death...

That's not funny. Saddam Hussein's last minutes were as follows:
Saddam (as the noose is put around his neck): Ya Allah (Oh God).
Someone in the audience: Mercy be on those who pray for Mohammed and the household of Mohammed. (Everyone repeats the prayer, including Saddam.)
Executioner and two people in the audience: And hasten his return (the Mehdi), curse his enemy and grant victory to his son, Muqtada, Muqtada, Muqtada! (This is a common Sadrist chant.)
Saddam (smirking): Muqtada?
NSA Muwafaq Al-Rubai'i: To Hell!
Saddam: (laughing)
Prosecutor Munqidh Al-Far'awn: Please, no.
Muwafaq Al-Rubi'i: Long live Mohammed Baqir Al-Sadr!
Someone in the audience: To Hell!
Saddam (solemnly recites the Shahada prayer): I witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Mohammed is the messenger of Allah. I witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Mohammed is the- (trap door is opened).
Audience: Prayers for Mohammed and the household of Mohammed.
Someone: The tyrant has fallen. May Allah's curse be upon him.
Someone: No. No. Stay back.
Someone: Leave him for 8 minutes. Don't take him down.
Someone: Everyone. Stay back.

What amazes me the most is how barbaric most of the Iraqi liberators are.
Kill him, hang him, cut him with razor blades, torture him.
Just listen to yourselves!!
You sound like crazy lunatic muderers. Seriously. Put the shoe on the other foot for a second, and read what you wrote.
Saddam Hussein was not crazy. He knew what he did. But you guys sound nuts.
It's so ironic. Those who are calling for peace in Iraq are the ones with the most horrific beliefs!
By your own standards, you should be locked away. I just hope I never meet you in a dark alley you peace loving terrorists

Nothing has been achieved at all. I don't think people should kill people to show that killing is wrong. Killing Saddam did not help that country if anything I am willing to bet it gets worse.. I say he should have served hard time and made to think everyday why he was where he was.

And he's right. He's very right. It's a milestone, indeed.
A) A brutal murderer has been removed from the face of the planet, thank God.
B) Now the Iraqi people don't have to worry about standing up for themselves, they won't be shot for speaking their minds.
Cool, huh? ^_^

sure and No. and that i understand it truly is not extremely an answer yet listen me out. putting Saddam gave many Iraqis that suffered lower than him closure for his or her households and themselves. it truly is a small quantity of solace, yet sending him to any early grave can assist a tiny bit. this may help the households in Iraq that felt that the individuals were doing not something yet causing worry. This, regrettably, isn't the conventional opinion contained in the middle East. inspite of the indisputable fact that, on the different aspect of the fence, the Sunni Muslims (who help him) can now idolize Saddam and note him as a martyr of the reason. This new wave of violence will in all likelihood improve tenfold for slightly. i do not ignore that one in each of my friends over there suggested protection has been beefed waaay up for a lengthy time period now so as that deaths and riots might want to be placed at a minimum. And besides the actual incontrovertible truth that I applaud your passionate speech, i do not imagine you're being sensible. i have heard horror thoughts from more suitable than one pal, about childrens, 12 or 13 screaming "Allah!" and blowing themselves up good close to the tank he change into in. a number of them obviously are not "threat free." As you position it. Now take a step lower back for a short 2d. happening 3 or 4 hours of sleep, in consistent worry of attack, how do you imagine your performance might want to be? fairly in case you've been deployed there two times or perhaps 3 cases? And sure, I do have self assurance you're good about the military conserving Iraq from civil warfare. The Iraqi Police were stuck torturing different Iraqi electorate. you may't take care of peace till all of us obviously needs it. in the journey that they could't be depended on to safeguard themselves at this element, they prefer mediator. i don't believe of we'd want to consistently were there contained in the first position, inspite of the indisputable fact that this is crucial that we do not go away now. that is tantamount to starting up WWIII. (And about Cheney? there's a hoop of hell such as his freaking call on it.)
