Nope.
It's not common, it's just you.
Try to lick the keyboard less.

I know this question has been asked 8 years ago, but was I pleased to find it! I regularly have soar throat after extended use of my laptop and no one else seem to have it but me and it had actually become a laughing matter. However having read this message, I found it is likely to be what is called Sternocleidomastoid (SCM) caused by straining the trigger points that contribute to migraine-type headaches, tension headaches, dizziness or vertigo conditions, eye and vision disturbances, sore throat, and difficulty swallowing.

When you concentrate on work, you sometimes for get yourself .. maybe your posture is making things hurt, maybe you are breathing with your mouth open, making your throat raw. The eye ache thing seems more easily explainable. I would advise making sure you have an optimal work space. Good arm and shoulder and back support. Good chair. Be a little more mindful of you, as you work. I have cracked away at it all day on the computer, and wound up with a sore shoulder or mid back ache, just because of insufficient self- awareness.

Probably it's because you didn't drink water during the time...You have to drink more water to avoid sore throat and......after using the laptop, you should wash your face.(I do like that too and it makes my eyes feel better) Remember you have to drink plenty of water although you are busy using your laptop.

you have to watch your self while using the laptop. eg. bending towards the screen, laying down and pressing your throat with your hand etc.. try to set on a chair for long hours and see if there is any changes. the laptop have nothing to do with your problem, its you.

perhaps you are getting a virus from your comp. :) the eye ache is from overstraining your eyes while you are using the comp.it is the same for the general upsets all over. Take breaks while you are using the comp. Get outside and get some fresh air. do some exercises, do anything rather than sit there for 3 hours at a time.
