A sprain is a stretch and/or tear of a ligament (a band of fibrous tissue that connects two or more bones at a joint). With a sprained ankle, one or more ligaments around the ankle can be injured at the same time. The seriousness of the injury will depend on whether a tear is partly or completely torn and on the number of ligaments involved. The ankle joint is supported by several outside and inside ligaments. More than 25,000 people sprain their ankle each day in the United States.

How is a sprained ankle treated?

Rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE) for the first 24 to 48 hours after the injury .
For people with a moderate or severe sprain, particularly of the ankle, a hard cast may be applied, often after the initial swelling is less apparent .
However, these signs and symptoms can vary in intensity, depending on the severity of the sprain. Sometimes people feel a pop or tear when the injury happens.
Severe sprains and strains may require surgery to repair the torn ligaments, muscle, or tendons and this surgery is usually performed by an orthopaedic surgeon

Yes this is normal even whe you have only a sprain, which it could be,but we still treat these injuries the same as sprains can be very painful. As long as your partner trys to rest the ankle, dont put all his weight on to that leg, well not any way in about 1 wk he can start to apply some weight but with the help off some crutches if you have some.Elevate the leg higher then hes heart when hes sitting or in bed, keep the toes moving and checking for the circulation to making sure hes toes are not going blue,if you have some frozen peas rest this on the swollen area but wrap them up in a tea towel first.Sprains are as fainful as a fracture and take wks for the ankle to get bck to normal again,if he feels that the pain and the ankle isnt inproving take him to hes gp and see what advice he gives him.Well good luck and i hope he recovers soon.

Don't worry so much. It is normal. It may take one week to 2 wks Actually, it depend on the injury itself and taking care of it.
I know many cases like this.
Diclofenac is a good medication for pain in general and it is safe and has minimal side effects. In terms of Co Codamol, it is also analgesic. I don't think he need to take both at the same time. especially co codamol b/c it is highly addictive medication and sometimes make him drowsy.
I highly recommend Diclofenac better than Co Codamol.
In addition to that, I advise him to immerse his injured ankle into a warm water in a pool and add some food salt" Nacl" sodium chloride to it. This will make him feel better and it will relieve pain and plus minimize the swollen. "it is a complecated mechanism or process, it required time to explain and using some jargon language you may not figure out it very well"
Don't move quickly.
Don't make any pressure on it.
Relax.

I hope you will feel well after following my advice.

Ask ur partner not to strain around much that ankle by walking too much. For sudden relief from that heaviness, boil some water, take and cloth and dip it in this water, and GENTLY keep the cloth in the ankle. Do it 3 times a day daily it will reduce the swelling. Actually swelling comes if u have facture or a sprain as such no cases has been reported Do what i told u.

It's possible, even if it isn't broken, he could have pinched a nerve in the process, which hurts to no end. You should have him elevate the foot (best way is to lay down on a couch and prop the leg up with pillows) and put ice on it to reduce the swelling. If the pain continues or escalates, be sure to have him see a doctor. Make sure he stays off of it as much as possible, and that includes crawling. Perhaps you could pick up some crutches for him at the drug store if someone can't be with him all the time.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

Sprain.... my girlfriend did this to her ankle recently. There is no quick cure. Ice it, wrap it and elevate it.

Keep moving it as much as possible. The joint will not freeze so much and movement will come back quicker. It will take about 6 - 8 weeks for it to completely heal.

Yep, a twisted ankle can be a *****....BUT, there is a lot of small bones in the feet and hands, they missed a broken wrist on me on the first xray, give it 3 days to improve, if not, back to doctors...

Very Swollen is the answer here. He MUST elevate his ankle and keep it iced [not hot packs] ICED. The ice can also be placed behind his knee if his ankle is bandaged [this works to ice the blood as it travels to the ankle]. The pain will be reduced as the swelling is reduced.

Want to know how to get your ex back? Change yourself. Don't worry about changing other people, worry about changing yourself. Go to https://tr.im/djSqQ

Once you do that then you can start to worry about getting back together with your ex, other wise you will find that you are fighting about all the same things and getting no where. Do what it takes and I promise things will work out in your favor.

The funny thing is I came to the realization that I had to change a little too late. After I was kicked out and after I was about to lose the only things that truly mattered to me - her love. A funny thing happens when we truly love someone and lose them. We do what ever it takes to get them back. For me I had to drop bad habits that had caused not only our relationship to sour but practically every other relationship I had had in the past. Not only with women, but with friends, co-workers, family, you name it.

Which is why I say to you as my ex at the time said to me, the only thing you can do is change yourself. Work on yourself and improve on the person that you already are. Drop the negative things in your life that don't belong there and you will see all of your relationships start to take off to new heights.
