These took place in the 1940s and 50s and maybe even earlier. Does anybody have any old tapes stored away in their attic?

Of course I remember those wonderful fun and lively performances. But I wish I had the recordings. I loved those things and saw a couple with my mother in the 50s.

The operettas are still performed by small companies in the States - esp Pirates of Penzance and Mikado. Schools do them sometimes too.

As for the professional companies doing them? I do not know. Try Public Broadcasting in the US and Channel 4 in the UK. Perhaps there are recordings offered on the websites?

BTW my old video tapes of Mission Impossible taped in the ?80s/?90s off TV have ROTTED, and cannot play properly - have lines of snow across them. Grr.

I don't remember the broadcasts, but my parents had "The Mikado" on LP. I always loved it!
