The Queen, as a constitutional monarch, only awards the honours to the people. It is the government who choose who is to be honoured. Can't for the life of me understand why Bono is being given an honourary knighthood. What the hell has he ever done apart from foist overtly political records on us? Probably got his tongue buried deep up Blair's backside! At least Bob Geldof did lots for Band Aid, and his honourary KBE was therefore justified. Proves that under Labour, the whole honours system is totally corrupt and riven with cronyism.

the Queen is just a symbol of royals in British monarchy and not more than that, the House of Parliament do the administrative and other significant aspects.. and .. of course on this matters.. I bet, the Queen just lead a pleasant life in her castles..

The Queen merely performs the ceremony of awarding a particular honour. It is the Government of the day who choose who is getting what.

anybody can have an mbe or obe to be honest i dont think the queen really chooses them she is given a list and well she reads it out.
