For you to be concern about being caught up in car bombings in India is like saying you don't think Bangkok is safe because two years ago Phuket was hit by a tsunami. Do you ever say to yourself, I am not driving because there is a chance I will get hit by a drunk driver on the road? Of course not. Yet, the chance of THAT happens to you is a lot higher than car bomb in India, and you face that risk EVERYDAY.
Not that India is under threat of car bombings.
India is a very big place and you could be anywhere in India at any given time. IF...and this is a big IF, there is going to be a car bomb, the chance of you being at THAT place at THAT time is very small. Hey, if it happens, if happens. As one answerer said - if we are scared of such threats then we might as well not go anywhere - and that means the terrorist have won.

I work for a UK company that has offices in Delhi and a couple of my colleagues are out there at the moment. We use the foreign office web site for up to date information on threats. As far as I'm aware India is considered a safe environment at the moment. As the other contributors have said, you are no more likely to suffer an act of terrorism in India than practically anywhere else at this time.

No country is safe from terrorist bombing, but in India isn't such a chaos... Rarely can you see some bombing but with a few injuries and less deaths.

There are more than a billion people in India. Last year a couple of hundred died due to terror attacks. In percentage it is much less than people dying on highways in US. Your call now...
