YEAH RIGHT

I think you will find that guards at empassies come from two nations only, unless tthe UN are involved.

The country the Embassy belongs to and the country the Embassy is in.

So you can't choose, if guarding your own countries Embassy you go wherever you are sent.

depends on your personality. do you like to go out, interested in the night life? And which embassy would you work for? The US embassy? the UN? stay away from unstable countries like DR Congo and Kenya. Kampala Uganda may be nice because they are semi developed and its quite peaceful in the city. gets warm there. Kigali Rwanda is nice as well. The world has poured in millions of dollars into this country as a result of their guilt and Rwanda has been able to do a lot of rebuilding. Good roads. Pretoria South Africa would be more developed than most so you could count on less power cuts and running water. If you only speak english, try sticking to english speaking countries so that you will be free to get to know more about the people and their cultures.

It depends on what you want during your tour of duty in that country. If you want to be in a country that is more like Europe or the US in terms of standard of living, nightlife, similarities in culture, etc. Then South Africa or Mauritius is your best bet.

Namibia or Botswana is nice if you want some where quite and relaxing, nothing ever happens there. It might have something to do with the fact that almost no one lives there.

If you want a tropical paradise but dint mind seeing grinding poverty and rampant corruption and want to have an adventure, then go to Mozambique. If you want a real adventure and see some action then go to Sudan or the DRC, no one knows when/if that place will blow up next and ye local embassy will need protecting.

I'm also curious how you are thinking you'll get to choose....

Most are simply assigned and get no choices what-so-ever.

Asking for a blind recommendation online would be a stupid thing to do, ask the guy who is so well-connected that you are being offered such choices. They'll know far better than any of us will.

Try the regional services in Paris. then maybe Mauritius. Too bad you don't have Egypt as a selection.
