Sounds like Cellular with Jason Statham. Kim Basinger, the mom, and she and her son are held captive. Because her husband witnessed and videoed some cops doing some non-cop things. And now the cops want the tape. Is that the one you're thinking of?

I think its Trapped because in Cellular there was a kid involved in it but it was just the mother trapped upstairs in some random building. Then in Trapped it was a house and it was a little girl and mom.
