AFTER VISITING MY GYN ON WEDNESDAY I WAS TOLD MY CERVIX IS OPENING. ON JUNE 23 06 I HAD A PREMATURE BABY OF 22 WEEKS. I AM NOW 22 WEEKS PREGNANT AGAIN AND MY CERVIX IS ALREADY OPENING. THEY TELL ME IF I CAN MAKE IT 5 MORE WEEKS THERE WILL BE A CHANCE THAT IF THE BABY IS BORN PREMATURE WHICH THEY ARE EXPECTING IT CAN SURVIVE. I AM ONLY 23 AND DONT FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON. I AM AT HOME ON STRICK BED REST AND IF BY NEXT WEEK I OPEN MORE I WILL BE ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL. I ALREADY LOST ONE CHILD AND I DONT WANT TO GO TROUGH THIS AGAIN.
WHAT EXACTLY IS GOING ON AND WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF A 27 WEEK BABY SURVIVING
MY GYN SAID DOING A CERCLAGE IS TOO RISKY AT THIS POINT

That means not much longer and your baby could be born. That is why your doctor has put you on bed rest obey is orders. You need to be lying down unless going to the bath room. That will prevent gravity from opening your cervix any more that it is.It will open some on its own,but if you are up and doing a lot of walking the baby will come sooner than need be.that is why when people are in labor they have them walk,so gravity can help them dilate and open there cervix more hope this helps good luck and it will be Worth all those days and weeks in bed.

I know what you're going through. I had an emergency cerclage put in at 18 weeks. I can't believe they didn't put one in since you've already had a 2nd trimester miscarriage!! I too am on bedrest and I feel bad when I get up to make a sandwich! I'm so sorry you've had to go through all of this, but you definitely need to stay horizontal as much as possible. If you don't get a cerclage it's basically the only thing that will keep your baby from putting any more pressure on your cervix.

If you don't live in a high altitude and your hospital is equiped to handle extremely premature babies, you have a very good chance of survival for your little one. Keep him/her in as long as possible though. The earlier you deliver, the more problems your child faces (brain development, motor skills, breathing, eye sight, etc).

Best of luck to you and your little one, I hope this helped a little.

I completly understand... You should check out www.babycenter.com the forums under pregnancy complications and cervical disorders (also the Moms on Bedrest) are amazing!

Do not cheat on Bedrest!!! Do what the Dr. says its the absoult best thing for baby right now... Trust me it will be Hard but it CAN keep that baby in there!
Speaking for myself going on 20 weeks on BR!

It is possible but it is up to you! Cerclage gets risky at about 22-24 weeks... so depending on how effaced & Dialated you are Dr. is prolly right. But if you had PTL before why didnt Dr. give you the Cerclage earlier? After baby comes you should get a perment cerclage.

You can do it!
@ 28 weeks baby has a 80% chance of survival!
@ 32 wweks that risk goes up to 90%

Do you understand Strict BedRest? (I didnt when I first went on)
If you need someone to talk to feel free to Im me raverchic1 on Yahoo.

Get OFF your feet NOW!
No chances.
Don't stress, stay asleep.

I actually had the doctor give me sleeping pills and I only got up to potty, I ate, drank and slept in my bed. 6 months in bed rest.

My mom and best friend did most chores for me, and I sat on a barstool to prepare food and do dishes.

I never lifted anything again. I actually crawled around so to keep the gravity to a minum.

Good luck

Be sure and stay on bedrest and keep your spirits up. Dont cry or worry. Be in a relaxed state. Do everything your doc tells you to do.

I am sure you will do fine this time.

And if you get pg again, hopefully your doc can tighten up the cervex before it becomes a risk
