Using matrices is the best method for solving systems of simultaneous equations in an algorithmic (programmable) way.

In the various scientific studies the principles of matrix are employed to analyse interplay of factors under study... For exmple, in the calculation of Multiple Regression that studies the dependancy of certain attributes - say production attribute of a crop or adoption behaviour of certain clientele to a certain innovation, etc - on the various probable (independent) variables (like fertiliser / variety / irrigation regime / season / etc in the case of crop production; or the age / education level / social participation /etc in the case of client system), the individual regression coefficients (beta values) are arranged in a matrix and by iteration the multiple regression values are obtained (this was done by Doolittle Solution in my days, there may be more advanced methods now)..

There may be similar uses for the analysis of data in other forms of statistcal / mathematical / research studies.
