FOR ALL OF YOU WHO CARE OUT THERE, SPANISH SPEAKING TELENOVELAS (SOAPS) ARE FULL OF EXPLICIT SEX, BAD WORDS, EXTREME VIOLENCE, RAPE, KILLING, NUDITY, LIES, AND SO ON. IT IS ASHAMED THAT THE SPANISH POLPULATION HAS TO BE SUMMITED TO THIS LOW CLASS TELEVISION. FOR THOSE OF US LIVING WITH ELDER PARENTS THAT SPEAK ONLY SPANISH, AND WANT TO WATCH TV, IT IS IMPOSIBLE NOT TO HAVE OUR KIDS EXPOSED TO THIS VIOLENCE, SEX, AND DECEIPT. CAN WE STOP THIS AND ASK FOR MORE RESPECT TO OUR SPANISH SPEAKING KIDS?

That sounds to me like a campaign waiting to happen. The more people you get involved the better, including high profile Spanish speakers. Write letters to your MP/Congressman. Protest outside the studios of stations that perpetrate the myth that this is what you want to see. Write to the papers. In short, make a lot of noise about it!

First off, chill with the capitals. Second, lets look at the latter part of your "question". Here's an idea; do what my parents did when I was a kid, and either turn the tv off or make them do something else! Sex, violence, and lies are not exclusive to spanish programming, and the rest of the world seems to deal with it just fine. Here's the reality of the situation: The people who produce these shows aren't going to listen to any sort of public outcry. They aren't going to change, so you need to change what you do instead.

Well, Mexico telenovelas are the worst thing on Earth, as well as the ones from Telemundo. Argentina and Colombia are able to make better soaps, so you can maybe watch them...

Watch Ugly betty, or Betty la Fea... It dind't have sex nor violence. The worst telenvoelas are from Mexico and Venezuela...

I have seen at least one novela that didn't have any of this stuff -- it was very clean. But I guess what you say is true of a lot of television programs right now, not just Spanish-language television.

Perhaps your family can turn off the TV during prime time and institute Reading Hour instead. I bet that the abuelitos would love to read to the kids in Spanish.

You should be complaning to the broadcast television stations--- write yourself a letter, and have people sign it--- the more signiture you can cough up the more likely they will maybe listen to you--- Pues, yo ya ni veo la tele, ni en español ni en inglés, es cierto, en español es simplemente sexo y todo lo demas q involucra lo mundano.
