No, I don't rejoice in anybody's death. Bloodthirsty people just make me more worried about the future of the world.

His life was lost long before he was hung.
I personally think there would be much less violence in the US if they implemented the death sentences faster or even by hanging. There is too much politics in everything these days. Everyone wants to do the "politically correct" thing. The Iraqis got it right and took care of it quick. We are put here to live and make decisions regardless of how hard they are. We have to live with those decisions. I am just glad I didn't have to make that decision. People forget that we are not these other countries, we are the United States of America. We have our policies and they have theirs. Stop trying to make them us. The US is great in so many ways but also is messed up in so many ways. I am proud to be an American but believe we could learn so much from other countries if we were to get our heads out of you know where and pay attention.

YES! Truly this was an evil man, I believe in second chances but this guy was on his 10th.
You have to know Arabs who lost family and and friends at this "intemahara (ha! try to block that yahoo!)" just because he wanted to see if his new bomb worked.
So he can't continue to kill, although he was only charged with 182 killings, there are millions more directly affected by him.
Indirectly there are more, say for example the money he payed every palestenian family to send their youth to kill innocent jews and Arabs in Israel.
And say the nuclear weapons he was able to get rid off his country and pass on to a terrorist who will eventually use it on American Soil. Doubt me? Don't. He had 4 months leading to war to get rid of his stuff, just so he could "prove" to the UN he didn't have. Sure he may be dead now, but idiots still stood up for him, ruining our Image.
We may have had the moral high road, but guess who's laughing in his grave right now?

No. It is frivolous to be happy at anybody's death.
Furthermore, this execution accomplishes nothing. Saddam is not responsible for Bush's decision to go to war in Iraq and the problems faced by Americans there. He hasn't been in power for over two years and his death won't help stop the violence that is occurring in Iraq now.

No. He did deserve to be punished but hangings a bit too barbaric. Life imprisonment would have worked better.and his execution won't bring about any positive effects anyway. Won't end the unrest in Iraq.

Saddam was a murderer, a rapist, a dictator, a violent man etc... but i am against death penalty. Who are "we" to kill? who gave "us" that "license to kill"?. A life sentence would've been more appropriate.
Bachar el Assad is a tyrant, murderer and a dictator, when shall "we" hang him?

Absolutely not! Setting aside the fact that I am opposed to the death penalty entirely, he was killed as a scapegoat to justify the US government's quest for oil and power in the middle east. I will not deny that he was not a good person, but he was killed for all the wrong reasons.

I was talking to a friend of mine and she was so happy that he was executed but I am not happy that he is dead. I mean your so right, lives were lost and by killing this man, those lives arent going to be brought back.
Sure, the things he did were terrible, but we all make mistakes and no one is perfect. We have to forgive him and move on with our lives. I think people are making this issue a lot more complicated than it really is.

it makes a huge statement that he is getting "the ultimate" punishment. It is a huge deal to them. Personally, i think it does empower the people but the result after the hanging..is going to cause problems and seems to be a bit scary..you dont know how people will react..
