i'm quoting from customizing a hp/compaq v3000t

FREE Upgrade from 40GB 5400RPM to 60GB 5400RPM
40GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive > add $ 0.00
80GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive > add $ 25.00
100GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive > add $ 50.00
120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive > add $ 100.00

hope this gives u some clue

another factor is the rpm., the 7200 rpm's cost more
tho they're not offered in the v3000t

means faster data access & faster operations, but not particularly important in regular use > mainly for gaming & high intensive applications

another point i wanna keep u posted of is the option of an external hard drive, connected thro usb 2.0
> very useful in storing large amounts of data & more important when transferring medium to large amounts of data from one pc to another. desktop to desktop, desktop to notebook or whichever way
an external usb 2.0 hard drive 250 gb should cost $ 80
