Because there is generally nicer weather around the area and higher population, meaning better infrastructure and customer base, even though people generally come from all around to go to them.

Because California is a big state with a high population, and a popular vacation spot. That will bring LOTS and LOTS of people into the theme parks, so the parks will get more money then they would being in a less populated state.

Reason # 1 is because of one person. Walt Disney. If he did not build Disneyland in an Orange Grove in Anaheim other places such as Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Sea World or Six Flags Magic Mountain would not exist. Since Disneyland is the first it has had 50+ years to have other build up also.

Reason #2 - Weather. The weather in Southern California is more agreable for tourism than say Denver or Chicago.

Reason #3 - People - There is already a self made base of customers because of the number of people.

You should be lucky that you have so many. Some parks over there are open all year. They can't be open all year in a place like Chicago because of the cold environment. And yes, California is a big state. It's more about the climate than anything else though.

Because many tourists choose California as a vacation spot to go to. The climate is usually always good, which is ideal for a them park.

I would say because California is a major vacation destination anyway and because the weather is mild. Amusement parks can stay open year round in California.
