because Gene Kelly is a totally different era......things change so does the way people dance

Gene Kelly star of stage/screen 50/60's
Have you seen any stage productions? There are huge amount of men on stage and incredible dancers at that.
Other classic dancers Fred Astaire, Tommy Tune, Joel Grey.
Some Hollywood names that dance- Antonio Bandaras, Richard Gere, and even the Latin guy from that 70's show. they are out there.
Male ballet stars like Mikael Baryshnikov and my local favorite Carlos Acosta (both retired), and many many others.
Its just not as popular as it used to be, yet very hard work still.
Dancing with the Stars is really bringing the beauty and skill it requires to perfect just parts of some dances.
Enjoy- kick up your heels and dance
I love Salsa and Swing dancing...yet to hold my hubby and Waltz is still my favorite for hours on end.
