If you ever find out the answer to that one, let me know because we have had a nest in a portion of a brick wall for about twenty years. We have called the Bee people, the city, the fire department and all without permenent results. They keep coming back. The wall where they nest is where the corner of four properties join together and there is a telephone pole. The cable guys, the city and the telephone guys always have problems.
I have pets and grandchildren, lots of flowers and fruit trees and the bees are always flying around but we haven't been stung unless someone gets aggressive towards them. When the nest gets too big for the colony, a new queen will emerge and fly off with half of them to start another nest somewhere else.

Plant a shrub or other flowering bush somewhere close to the edge of your property or close by. Maybe they will be attracted to that instead of your flower beds.
