...well, this is what we wanted, but who's fooling who? Will Iraq (and the Arab world in general) make efforts to 'move on' (as the term goes)? I think not...starting with the strengthened paranoia of authorities in the west. It indeed was right to bring Saddam to justice - WMD notwithstanding - for crimes against fellow Iraqis...but let's see what happens next.

Mcfifi...don't agree with your answers most of the time - but methinks this time you are right. Not that 'the whole world will be going off' - but the way police throughout the world may treat Arabs somewhat differently - just heard an explosion has occured in Madrid...anything could have caused it, but here we go - paranoia will rule.

The dears from Sky news want to show us pictures of him being taken to the gallows. And so...for a country who allegedly is against the death penalty - a telly comany wants the same people to gawp at it.

Saddam is dead...victory for Saddam...No one won anything from his killing, beside Saddam himself who won't be forced to spend his life in a prison...
Yes,it was right to bring Saddam to justice, because he was definitely guilty for many crimes, but killing him it was not the right choice...Now things are going to be worst in Iraq and of course the never ending violence in Iraq is going to affect the West too...

Saddam is dead now. And that's better for him than spending the rest of his life in prison. I agree that Saddam committed many crimes and that he must get a punishment. But no, not G. Bush.... is the one who should spread justice and democracy around. Moreover, Saddam didn't have a fair trial, it was like a comedy play.
it's not called "a Victory" when the wolf kills the chicken. and it's a shame on the "peacekeepers" all around the world to have Saddam excuted and Mr. Bush is alive safe and sound.

First, let me say I am glad he swung because of all the innocent lives he has taken or caused pain to.

That said, he was just another power hungry corrupted man. It is all over the world and always will be. We are helping to appoint yet another Iraqi who will be of some use to us in business, even if we do not agree with some of his more militant tactics (this is already happening). Doesn't this sound familiar, did we not have a great deal to do with putting Saddam in control in the first place?? Did we not get hurt with the very weapons we sold Iraq? I could back the decisions of the western world if the leaders were not corrupt, lying, manipulative, self seeking individuals. I could understand the Americans trying to play judge, jury and executioner if they indeed led their own country in a pure and just way. The whole world is corrupt, mad......Try and make sense of the mess and you will send yourself around in circles. There will always be dictators, we had one in this country, her name was Margret Thatcher, there will always be people looking for justice and people trying to create peace.

A line of behaviour must be drawn somewhere, Saddam jumped over it.

If they aren't careful so many people are going to hurt themselves while they obsess and over-scrutinize points of contention relating to the War in Iraq and the War on Terrorism.

You should spend as much time trying to figure out what would happen if Saddam wasn't brought to justice, as you do trying to make facts fit your conspiracy theory.

It's all very simple if you put the effort into it. But experience tells me if you have one axe to grind, then you have a basement full of them to sharpen at times of your convenience. You Liberals never let facts get in the way of a good story.

How was this victory for the west? His trial and/or conviction wasnt about the west, or WMD, or the war in Iraq. I'm glad its over though. Maybe some focus can go back on the real enemy who was Osama bin Laden.

Seeing as Saddam was as secular as can be, this will neither be a blow nor a ralling cry for Al Queda and extremist Muslims.

This will be nothing but a footnote in the botched Iraq Occupation/War
