Your statement I can't agree with... we all give up liberties everyday for security, without it we would have anarchy. Ben Franklin said...
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety....."
This statement was used as a motto on the title page of An Historical Review of the Constitution and Government of Pennsylvania, and is WHOLLY correct!
Your overall point I tend to agree with.... While I do think our government has the authority to "spy" on any non-citizen in or out of the country in our interests.... that is where it should stay though... NON-CITIZEN!!!

In many ways it is true. But we must remember he couldn't even begin to imagine the world we live in today. There is no way that he could have ever fathomed our current world and political situation. There is a fine line between security and giving up liberty. It is one that must be carefully weighted and balanced. Unfortunately with these issues hindsight is always better than trying to anticipate where we must draw the line. It's easier to say after the fact, oh we didn't go far enough or that we went to far. We must do the best we can at the time and learn from any mistakes as best we can.

Franklin was a genius, he called money right on the mark, all Americans should be screaming about the patroit act rather than saying if youre doing nothing wrong you have nothing to fear, and when they take away the rights of one, yours is also in jeaopardy

Please reprint the Ben Franklin statement in its entity (a paragraph on both sides of the sentence should do it.) as to give the full context of the statement. This done we'll be able to decide weather or not Ben's statement is truly favorable to opponents of the patriot act or not.
