A typical adult human skeleton consists of the following 206 bones, though a small portion of the human population have an extra bone, occurring in the form of an extra rib. (Numbers in bold refer to the diagram at right.)

Instep bones:

Toe bones:

The infant skeleton has the following bones in addition to those above:
sacral vertebrae (4 or 5), which fuse in adults to form the sacrum
coccygeal vertebrae (3 to 5), which fuse in adults to form the coccyx
ilium, ischium and pubis, which fuse in adults to form the pelvic girdle
ANd thereby giving 206

That is only an approximation. In fact it varies. Some of a frontal bone separated by a suture, for example. and it is quite common (so you can't say "but, it isn't normal" or something). If the person who asked this question really wants 206 as an answer, this person has no clue about osteology.

Total number of bones in the human body is 206,but some people have an extra rib bone,so some people have 207 bones,but a new-born baby has 300 bones.
