I don't know, but that's the main reason I am against the death penalty. It's not that I care whether a brutal evil man lives or dies. He deserves to die. My concern is what it turns the rest of us into. It's creepy.

Tolkien put it well in Lord of the Rings. "Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends."

I wouldn't have nightmares about "him" being hanged so it wouldn't bother me to see the video. Also, although not too many will admit it, it's human nature. Morbid fascination is how the answer above me phrased it, I do believe. It's the same reason why people slow down to look at an accident or watch Faces of Death. Personally, I just want to see justice being served with my own two eyes. That bastard got off easy and I can't understand why so many people think it's wrong to be glad he's dead. Would these same people feel sympathy for Hitler?

I guess the same reason people want to watch people get their insides cut out in horror movies.

Oh, and then there's that proof that saddam is actually dead when it's released to the media.

As ashamed as I am to say it - Yes Please!! I have never felt pleased about a person being put to death before, but I am today. He was a monster and I feel today should be a day for the families of those he tortured to celebrate. It is their day NOT his. Show them he is dead for tru and let them move on.

Proof! The governments are so sneaky, it would be nothing for them to lie and say that they had done it, and sent him on his way to Bolivia or someplace and he start a new life. He's worth more alive than dead...

because humans are morbid by nature. Or you could always go with the excuse that by watching him hang it brings closure to decades of tyranny. Depends who you are and what your willing to admit to yourself
