This is my third pregnancy. The docs have said I gain too much weight (40-45 lbs) and with the first two pregnancies, I lost it all by the time each kid was 6 months old. And I am nowhere near obese, I start out at 125 lbs, at 5'6''. So, what's the big deal? But now I'm all self-concious and I want to try and keep the weight from piling on again. But everywhere I look things say "Don't gain too much weight. Don't try to lose weight." So what do I do to keep my weight gain in control now? Doc says don't diet, eat right. But I need more guidance.

the only thing you can do is start exercising and eating healthy. NO junk food. and drink water whenever other people are eating food. i am in the same position of trying to lose weight. it isnt easy. but if you add a few free weights , 5 lbs or so and then move to 10 lbs that will help you burn fat faster. do some cardio for 30 minutes a day and you will see results.

Just eat right, and exercise. There's really no other way. You will need to lose that weight from the pregnancy within 6 months or it will become much more harder to lose the weight after that time period.

well you just need to visit the doctor and ask the doctor about how to plan your meals cause he knows better..

but just eat moderate and remember you are not feeding just yourself but your baby too and i heard or read somewhere that even though you are pregnant, you still should eat like you would normally cause then the body provides the baby with the nutrients..

Umm...eating healthy is a start, as your doctor said. Beyond that, if you're healthy, a few extra pounds won't be a problem. If it's a real concern of yours, talk to a doctor who can elaborate.

too much gain will raise the likelihood of diabetes. eat mostly veggies , raw fruits, and lean protien, not too much in the way of carbs but when you do carbs make sure they are whole grain to get the best out of them, dont fry anything.

Exercise, eat healthy foods instead of fatty foods, and breast feed your new baby. That uses up lots of calories!
