yes chewing gum works. also if yuo just pretend to chew it that works to. it also works if you think about something funny that happened that made you laugh out loud, like a joke you heard, or watching someone fall or something . haha. just take your mind off of what was going to make you cry until you can go someplace alone. crying really does maake you fell better. there have been studies done on crying, and there is actualy a stress hormone present in tears, so its your bodys way of relieving stress. as we all know stress is VERY bad for your health so crying is good for you.

oh ya and blink alot to help your tear ducts try to absorb the extra tears.

yes chewing gum helps. Also swallowing(the lump in your throat).
But over all Id say the best remedy is to go ahead and cry. If you are in a public place. Go somewhere private and get it out. You will feel better and you will be able to continue on with out having that feeling of trying to hold it in.

Think of something else (something pleasant). Crying is healthy (it cleans your eyes) and you feel better. Maybe you want to cry in privacy or with someone special. I like crying in privacy or with someone special and then after that I feel very good. It is kind of like expressing an emotion or a feeling that needs to be ventilated.

An old trick of the trade is to tickle the top of your mouth with the tip of your tongue. Works everytime.

Genuine tears are a natural reflex like when the doctor hits your knee or scratches the bottom of your foot. you cannot hold back natural tears.

Sorry.

bite your lip, change your expression (frown, maybe) and keep telling yourself that u WON'T cry.
or u could close your eyes, take a deep breath and will yourself not to cry; it just might work...
