Right now analysts are saying hes to small to play quarterback in the NFL, personally I think thats bullsh** Emmitt Smith was to small to be a great running back when he came out, and look at where he stands now, possibly the greatest of all times. Regardless of that, even if every NFL team with a top pick takes a stupid pill and passes on him to be their starter (i hope they dont) the man is just too fast and too athletic. If I'm sitting there at pick 20 and smith is still available, unless I have a real bad need at one position, its a no brainer. Even if hes not going to play quarterback for you, he could be running back or receiver. I think even if he doesnt settle in anywhere as a QB, he will find a team and settle in as a Antwaan Randle El type role.

Who ever takes Troy Smith, will get the steal of the draft. Even if he's taken in the top 5, he should be number 1 overall. He won't have much of an impact, but he will likely pull a Jay Cutler and start with about 5 games remaining. I see him as a Randall Cunningham type player, but with a stronger arm. Even if he does get drafted to the Lions, it doesn't nessasarily mean he's going to do bad. Roy Williams and Mike Furrey sound like pretty good targets to me. Just ask John Kitna.

I think Troy Smith will be an average to slightly above average quarterback NFL quarterback. The pro game is so much different from the college game. Probably taken late first round, early second round and a back-up for a few years but he will become a starter soon enough.
His size reminds me of a Drew Brees type of quarterback.

OSU runs a spread offense... Spread QBs in college tend to generally take a year to get used to the NFL. See: Alex Smith's rookie year out of Utah.
Even with his running skills, he'll probably look more like an impatient, mobile back like Jake Plummer circa 2004 or Vick on a bad day than a scrambling QB that keeps defenses guessing like Vince Young has.

Troy Smith is going to end up with the Detroit Lions and that will be the end of his football career (poor guy).
