We're staying at the Fairfield inn there in a few weeks and were wondering what sort of neighborhood it is. Any info on surrounding restaurants would be great. Thanks.

That airport is located in a rural area. its a relatively small airport so I wouldn't worry too much. Ive been to that airport...its surrounded by a whole lot of nothing. You'd have to travel at least ten miles to get to any neighborhood. So Id say your pretty safe.
Stay away from the South side of the city as that is more of a "bad neighborhood. Downtown is very nice with many places to eat.
Has a river walk with shops restaurants and lots of things to see.

Yeah, there's not much around the Jax airport. Explore the city, though! the west side is not so great, but the east toward the beaches is nice as is downtown on the Riverwalk. Orange park (just south of the technical city limits) is a nice area, too.

It's really in a rural area. If you're right off of Duval Rd., it should be fine. If you're inside of the 295 loop, the neighborhoods aren't as great.
