Yup! All my best friends have been animals, being human, which is animal after all. And as a kid, and again in middle age, I've known a couple of dogs I counted amongst my best friends, too - although I've no idea what they thought of the relationship beyond running to play with me, and on occasions threatening anyone who threatened me. I've also been friends with several wonderful horses, a pig who seemed to fall in love with me and insisted on following me everywhere even breaking down fences to do so and sleeping outside my bedroom window, and a couple of individualistic wild birds. Sadly now, most of my best friends are dead - apart from the one lovely lady with whom I live and would not care to live without.

Well you do realise that humans are part of the animal kingdom, so technically we are all animals....and yes we have best friends who are human which means we are best friends with animals.... but anyway, if you're talking not about humans...
Well almost everyone who owns a cat or dog etc likes their company, plays with them (eg catch) and walks the dog or whatever, so we can hang out with them, and of course they would be considered friends coz we have fun with them and like being with them, i guess the only difference between having animals and humans as friends is that you dont go to school to see animals-theyre at home, and they live with you, and you cant talk to them.... and you cant do as many things as you can with a human friend, like shopping and gossiping and everything.
If you're talking about animals like giraffes and pigs and elephants (not pets), then yeah i guess you can be their friends too, like if you go to the zoo and hug an animal like a koala you can become its friend, animals are happy to see some humans, i guess that would make you a friend to it......

Yes, I had a great dog named Blue and I had a skin disorder and people weren't always so nice. And it felt good to come home to someone who didn't judge me.
I heard this saying and I loved it: Animals are such agreeable friends they ask no questions and pass no criticism.
