the tower of London is a kind of castle as far as i recall. look on multimap.com to plan a map from your arrival or starting point to the final destination. of course multimap can be used to plan any journey not just this one.
it all depends on what you want to find out.

There is only one castle - the Tower Of London! - and I think every guide book will tell you how to get there!
No other castles in London I'm afraid. Windsor castle isn't far away - but this is more of a home than a proper castle (it's where the queen lives a lot of the time).
There is one VERY impressive castle that is easy to get to - Rochester in Kent. It is possibly the best Norman castle in England (and the town of Rochester is a nice place to visit anyway). There are 2 fast trains per hour from Victoria station. They take about 40 minutes.

My favourite is a pub called the Warwick Castle in Warwick Avenue!!
It is nice there too - little venice with the canal and boats, you can take a narrow boat trip which is really good fun (might be a bit cold now though!)

Take the bus-boat (duck tour) tour to see the Tower of London etc from the river, then visit them on foot.
You can find historic buildings in London here: http://www.enjoyengland.com/where/destinations/dgsearch/ProductSearch.aspx?&advsrch=1&Reg=london&Sec=Attraction&PType=hist&dguideBC=tcm:21-847-4&Caption=Historic%20England%20in%20London
Or you could stay in a castle outside of London... http://www.enjoyengland.com/ideas/inspirational-ideas/historic-england/buildings-and-monuments/stay-in-a-castle.aspx
