I'm quiet and shy and when i talk to Japanese people, with my pauses, speaking mistakes, and whatever, they accept me. But Americans never do, they seem to think i'm stupid cause i talk slow, i pause.. and i'm not like them . Are Americans who are outgoing just not patient and not accepting of people who are different. ?

I think it has to do with culture. Japanese people in general, prefer people who don't talk much, and being shy is okay (preferred in most cases). Actually, the more you talk, you are not going to be liked by people, because people would think you are being rude. However, it's the complete opposite in the United States, where people's expectation in schools, community, etc., that you talk out loud, be more confident, etc.

For example, I'm Japanese, and if I talked the way I do in Japan, in the United States, people did not pay attention to me. However, if I talked louder, more fluent, and sometimes to the point where I sounded rude, then they accepted me and took attention.

So, I think it's more of how people are taught: what characteristics are good/not good. If you don't meet up to someone's standards, then of course, they are likely to look down on you.

But, you can't really clump/group people, and say all Americans are like so and so, etc., because it's not like all Americans are going to hate you, and all the Japanese people are going to accept you.

I think part of you needs to adapt to your surroundings. However, I hope that you will find luck in finding an American person who is going to accept you. And I don't think that the people you met necessarily think that you're stupid...they probably have a short temper because they are more used to hearing a fast, rapid conversation, rather than a slower one (because it's almost impossible for some to speak slower, even if you ask them a million times to talk slower!)

All people are different. Maybe the japanese people you have met have more empathy for your limited vocabulary. Don't lump "Americans" together though. Being such a diverse country means there are all types. There are plenty of patient ones who will like talking to you.

Americans, especially the younger generations are very rude and are not taught from childhood how to behave and treat everyone respectfully.
I am in the younger generation, but am accepting to everyone no matter how different. My parents taught me !

It has to do with differences in culture. Asian cultures in general are more positive toward people who are "soft-spoken" or things like that than are other cultures.

what is your nationality? if you are Japanese, of course your people will accept you. this is not the case for our racist Americans.
