my friend is flying in to Houston from California right now and Houston is under a tornado watch until 2AM and we are having awful thunderstorms. If the weather is too bad will they land the plan and wait for the weather to clear up? Should I worry about her?

nope, you have nothing to worry about. the frist time i flew to disney world i watched tornadoes spiral right underneath me. the plane flies higher than the tornadoes.

Fear not, the thunderstorms are heading away from the airports and the plane in flying behind the cold front heading Easterly and it may even get to the airport sooner than expected.

It's OK to worry about her.I mean when hurricane Katrina was coming I worried about people I don't even know.I know Hurricanes and tornadoes are different but they can do real damage so it's OK to worry.

It's been snowing up here in Albuquerque, NM for the past day... about 8in or so. Darn global warming.

They won't let them land in conditions like that. They'll reroute them to a safer area or have them in a holding pattern until it clears up and is safe to land.

Usually with bad weather the plane will land to the safest/nearest location to them. She should be ok, and its ok to be worried.

they will do whats best for everyone, and the PLANE, they will not mess with the plane, so she will be safe

you shouldn't worry because there is nothing you can do. Worrying only is detrimental to your health and doesn't actually help your friend.
