I agree that Maxim was the first person to successfully market silencers. However, Americans who say that silencers are banned in the USA are too stupid to trust on the internet and should stop typing before they hurt themselves. Silencers are legal in 36 states. Many differant companies make them for police, military and civilian use. I make silencers for my own use using ATF form 1's and paying the required $200 tax on each.

Do you mean a firearms suppresor? There is no commercial success because they are banned from the general public.
