The whole thing is confusing to me, and i don't understand it, but here are some of my thoughts on the whole thing. I was 6 years old in 1991 during the gulf war. i remember seeing saddam on tv and in the newspapers and my dad telling me the horrible things that he did, and my dad telling me they knew where saddam was and that it would only be a matter of time before he was caught. now, 15 years later, he is hanged for his crimes. i dont think that a leader should murder, torture, and gas their own people to maintain power. that is not a leader, that is a tyrant, an oppressor, a cruel and evil dictator. saddam should have thought of the future and the possibility of his own downfall when he did what he did. even killing members of his own family to ensure power, which he eventually lost. so there was no point in the things that he did. iraq is worse off than it ever was and there is still war in iraq. i don't support the death penalty either, but in saddam's case, i think that the right decision was made in executing him, and at least it was done the legal way, with lawyers, judges and a whole trial. at least he got a trial, which is something he did not give his victims. i think that saddam being hanged will show that no one is above the law, even the president or dictator or prime minister. if they commit crimes, they too should be subjected to the laws of the country that they rule.

I think you're a little confused. An American president can only run for 2 terms and Bush has already served those so he CAN'T run in the next election. As far as Saddam goes, the rest of his life being served in prison would be too mild of a punishment for his crimes against his own damn people. The man got what he deserved and if I would have had it my way he would have gotten the electric chair instead. Feeling sympathy for an evil monster like that would be like taking pity on Hitler. The real victims are all of the people that died during his regine. Those are the ones I feel sorry for. Saddam can rot in hell for all I care.

Chill, Friend. He was tried , convicted, & sentenced in an Iraqi court. The crimes he committed were against the Iraqi people. Their decision, not ours. Their business; not this country's, mine, or yours. Ask the Iraqs whether it was justice, revenge, or both. As far as I am concerned, he earned his fate, even if it is none of my business
He was executed this morning before the beginning of either version of the holy day because by their law, it would have been illegal to execute him during the holy days. I am sure there was pressure by our govt to get it over with during a 3 day non-news cycle in this country to keep us less aware
I agree with your 3rd post. Sadly, that is the nature of the beast Consider that we also have the death penalty on our side of the oceans, & it is being used. I am no fan of the death penalty in most cases, but when someone is proven beyond doubt to be evil, I will lose no sleep over its use.

You are wrong.
Because you are mixing two different issues.
President Bush and American Forces were able to arrest Saddam and force him to stand before a 'trial judge'.
Saddam was punished for his crimes against Humanity.
The most 'fairness' that 'VICTIMS" expecting from 'rule of law' is a 'same penalty' that criminals doing against 'victims'.
Saddam injured and killed millions innocent people, he has just given 'one life' in front of that...it is not fair? IF, Saddam, had One Million Lives, and all were taken from him that was 'fairness'.
Today, December 30, 2006, Bush is HERO for billion people around the World. Bush is well representing the American, so, TODAY American are Hero.
In Eid... like 'Xmas' in Iran we give gifts.
TODAY, American has given me the BEST GIFT that ever I got in any Eid.
From other hand, in Iranian culture we are NOT allowed to 'cheer' for death of anyone.
SO, as you can see, I never used the word HAPPY that Saddam sentenced. BUT, certainly I am VERY VERY RELIEF and that is my gift of Eid by American. SO 'Thank You Bush and American Forces' for arresting worst criminal, Saddam!

Actually it was the Iraqi government enforcing Iraqi law with Iraqi penalties, all of which have been around long before Saddam.
You are under the impression that Bush can run again? Term limits my friend. Only 2 to a president. The death penalty is not about revenge it is about justice, it is about not deserving life, it is about deterring other would be evil dictators.

The whole thing is rediculous. We invaded Iraq because of suspected WMD's but when we found there weren't any we didn't just return Saddam to power or even admit we were wrong. Then we go about "convicting" him on these other "offenses". Sure he was a bad guy, but it doesn't seem right to just invade another country on false pretenses, and then go about it as if you're doing the right thing after all. That's the way an eight year old thinks. The only excuse is power. The insurgents have it in Iraq right now, and we had with Saddam. Its just a big childish mess.

I knew someone would blame the US kangaroo/government led courts for letting the man swing. Ya know what, he killed and tortured women, children, and men sometimes in front of loved ones just because. Maybe they should've let him live and go back into power so he could kill more people. I'm not sure whether or not we should be in Iraq doing what we're doing. I don't like the fact that thousands of people are losing their lives. I don't like that my country was attacked by a bunch of hearless, chicken sh*t, no excuses for a man terrorists who can only fight while hidden. I do like that fact that we have taken the fight to them. I do wish our government would alllow our troops to find 'em no matter what, eliminate them, and come home. I also like that fact that my children can sleep a little safer because my country as well as others have chosen to sacrifice to protect my children. He's dead, he was Satan incarnate, get over yourself and your self righteous crap.

Given the cutting-edge months activities and the "inner" Iraqi approach/conflict among they selves, I say; that before you positioned any execution date; Saddam could be enable "unfastened" upon those cowards whom are killing each and every others women, the old, the harmless, and their toddlers. human beings like those in basic terms comprehend one factor; and that's Saddam. All this romanticism approximately given them their "freedom" on the fee of the lives of our youthful men and females in the service and ; !!!which "freedom" they have used to "kill and ambush" US and coalition forces ought to be finished away with. Edit: I edited the 0.33 line from the backside, so all the bleeding hearts right here grants me some greater, or ; all the "thumbs down" they could like. fact all hurts ; does not it?
