It made a sound. No one was there to hear it. That doesn't mean that the tree didn't fall. This is the conceit of Man. That nothing exists outside of our perception.
To take it a step further, am I answering a question posed by someone else or did I sub-consciously pose the question that I would later answer now....???

This question has been around for several hundred years. Noise is sound that is heard. The falling tree makes souind, but doesn't make noise.

Yes, well sound waves anyway.
When the tree hits the ground it sends out sound waves. There are just no ears to receive the waves. It does not mean that the sound waves didn't exist.

To double check, invest in some good quality camera's to set up w/good sound. Make sure to get the most expensive. When you've taped it 1st hand, let us know

if it hits a bear it goes ouch. actually it does make a noise. its just that there is no one to hear it. kinda like one hand clapping.
