This is what Superman's Kryptonian father (Jor-El) said to him as he placed baby Kal-El (Superman's Kryptonian name) in the rocket that would send him to Earth. What is missing from the quote in Superman Returns is what Jor-El says next: "You will see through my eyes, and I, through yours". As he says this, he places the crystals in the rocket, which allow Superman to talk to his father in the fortress. The meaning of the entire expression is that Kal-Els destiny will be great, and he will be able to share it with his father. When Superman says this to his son, he is telling him that he has a great destiny as well.

it means that no matter what, superman's son will have the same fate/destiny as superman. the great circle of life.

yeah i was wondering about that quote too. i thought he meant that he was going to become part of the SUN..but that didnt make much sense lol
