For me it really is Oasis.
U2 is a kickass band and a respectable one at that! There would be no Coldplay if there had never been Oasis and U2, because if you take these 2 bands and combine them, they would be Coldplay.
Pink Floyd is the best band there ever was...out of ANY country!
They are still an enigma and the music is just timeless.
Led Zeppelin was my party tunes and I still enjoy their stuff like it was yesterday! I also like Radio head, Gorillaz, Peter Gaberial, and not to mention The Beatles!
There are just too many fantastic bands to come out of England and there will be many more and I wait with anticipation for the next big 'invasion!'
All in all I just love Oasis because they picked the ball up where it had been dropped. Gotta love'm.

What do you mean by best?
If it's the most popular it would be a matter of opinion, but if it's the most influential it would have to be The Beatles.
They influenced more people than any other group to pick up a guitar and play, many of which have also done their share to provide us with great music.
The Beatles in turn were influenced by Elvis and early R&B.

While I can totally get behind Yes, my tastes run a little more 1982 and I would have to say Yaz, maybe Sister's of Mercy or the Smiths.
