I've never used profanity in my life. If I'm about to, I catch myself. I'm 15. I get made fun of because people don't think I know what anything means, though I'm very intelligent! I know what these things are and I know what they mean, I'd just rather not talk about them. I don't like people using profanity, and I'm trying to get my dad to STOP! My girlfriend does it also and it concerns me a lot! At least she doesn't use God's name in vain anymore. She says, "Oh goodness!" ...but seriously!!! ANY ADVICE or SUGGESTIONS?

The fact that you do not use profanity shows your intelligence. A truly intelligent person can express him or herself without resorting to the lowest common denominator (profanity.) My advice to you is to keep on doing what you are doing. It is very hard to stand by your principals especially in today's world. It shows strength of character that you will not be swayed by what the crowd is doing. I say: Hooray for you! You are a true paragon!

I try never to use profanity except when I am trying to be humorous.

You'll be a much better person if you don't ever start using profanity. I wish I never would have. There is nothing good or productive about it. It's just ugly. I wish I could stop. I've been doing it so long it's like burned into my brain. Be your own person. Don't give in to your friends or peer pressure.

I applaud you and your determination. Stick to your guns! People should accept you for what you are and respect your beliefs and opinions. Everyone is different and everyone has the right to say what they feel. But I believe they shouldn't do it at the expense of someone else. The world would be a better place if everyone thought about what they said before they said it. You can't please everyone, and someone will always be offended. So best thing you can do is just what you've been doing. Respect on any level is a dissapearing quality anymore.

I am so proud of you. Don't ever start. It is a very bad habit and is hard to break. I am 43 years old and wish I had never started.
