There is no "new format" out there for resumes.

In my opinion, everyone has there own unique way of presenting there resume.

However, it may be best to follow a standard format and then fine tune it to become your own.

Since you have not updated it in a while check out these links for some ideas:
http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/resume
http://jobsearch.about.com/od/resumes/p/resumetypes.htm
http://www.vault.com/nr/ht_list.jsp?ht_type=8

Also you may want to consider updating your resume often. Whenever you learn something new at your job or when you get a promotion update it to include new information.

And lastly, ask someone you trust to view it Proofreading is very necessary. You will be surprised how many people do not spend enough time doing this....

A good resume is a "work-in-progress."

If you want to get noticed.....update it often.

Hope this helps.

God Bless and Have a Happy and Healthy New Year!

I think that concise and organized is ALWAYS in style. I'm graduating from college this year, and that's also what the guidance offices are telling me. I don't think that a clean, professional style goes "out." Make it your own, but make sure that your headings, titles, and spaces are uniform. I would also advise against using a picture. To me, that seems both presumptive and shallow. It does not present you with any advantage, and since your resume should be as short as possible, everything on it should go towards the general direction of that specific job.

Mix up the fonts. Update the material. Get great resume paper. I think it'll be fine. It shouldn't look like you're trying to rely on the appearance of your resume because of the shortcomings ON your resume.

I think the paper resumes are going to be the same. I do think you need to include a reference to your blog. Or at least to a blog that shows you are up to date with computers and communication tools.

If you search on Yahoo HotJobs, they have a resume builder. You pick what layout you want, type in your info as they ask for it and they format it for you. Also nice because then you can apply to jobs on hotjobs by just sending your new resume.
