Be more specific. What branch of government? What agency? What circumstances made you ask this question? The people that work for the government are the same people that don't work for the government. Mind reading, while not impossible, is however improbable with current technologies. So, don't worry about it because even if someone in government could there is nothing illegal about thinking something.

I belive that the actual technology to do this is not advanced enough to do such things.
But there are stories of the goverment placing wires in your home to listen on you conversation.

No but they can bug your phone, read your e-mail, see what you check out of the library and watch where you surf the net at. So why would they need to read your mind, Oh yeah they also have all of your personal information too.
