He is one who rules with an iron fist. I am not one to defend any of his massacres, however, I'd like you to review the current situation in Iraq. The mazhab or clan war that kills countless people everyday. (I bet in orders of magnitude beyond the time in Saddam's regime)

The truth is, that Iraq is not all too stable as a nation. The clan politics are just waiting for an opportunity for widespread civil war. Perhaps Saddam could have tried a softer approach, but in a climate where kindness may well be perceived as weakness, I'm not sure what he could have done. He could be a more benevolent dictator though (an oxymoron I know), and restrict his more horrible punishments only on those who are intent on stirring up strife.

His supporters may try to avenge him in some ways. Some may claim he was a martyr and rally people around them. His detractors will be glad and will continue to expound his crimes for some time. But for the vast majority of people I'm afraid, especially those not in the countries involved, his death will be a dinner conversation and nothing more. Personally, I'm curious as to how the situation in Iraq will develop.

It was a political move.
I really never understood why the world is a better place off without Saddam.
What he did to his people and why he did its all internal. I dont know what is the punishment if someone or a group tries to assasinate a president here. A law was made after crime is comitted and then it was applied.
Just feel sad for the way he was gone. They just executed a helpless person.
IRAQ was one country that was really the most far away Arab country from terrorism. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan(closest allies) have the most count of terrorist on the watch lists.

I guess this move is dangerous for the world.

I agree with Jen. He actually got off easy. He does'nt have to see how he affected all of the lives that he did. He does,nt have to deal with anything he did. He should have been locked up in a tiny cell given the very basic essentials to survive and suffer for the rest of his pitiful life.

It won't affect me at all and I doubt that it'll have any effect on the world. He's only 1 tyrant out of millions.

The world is not better off because his death won't change anything. It's the same. The world won't be any better 3 months from now than it was 3 months ago.

He was punished in equal measure for his atrocities. Actually he got off easy. The important thing is the Iraqi and other people he harmed can move forward.

I think it's even sadder that 1000's of Iraqi famlies had to wait years to find out where their missing relatives went.

I don't think he should have been hanged to death. I think the miserable, twisted man should have lived his life in a filthy, rough prison. I think death was too good an option for him.
