I will admit that there are some outspoken Libs who point out what we are doing wrong, but what is so bad about that? We aren't perfect, and there are some things in this country that need changing. Why is it called "hating" America when people are trying to bring about positive social change? I would think that our forefather's would approve of people questioning the status quo...isn't that the whole point of democracy after all?
Your thoughts?

Yes, you totally correct. Finally someone says exactly the right thing. If you ever study the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence the fathers of this country clearly say it is the duty of the people to change the government if it is doing wrong. The government doesn't change itself it is the job of the people to question its motives and actions.

the determination to alter into the main obstructionist GOP in our background got here in the previous Obama took place of work. The 8% unemployment value became an ESTIMATE, a projection. And all and sundry who knows something knows finished nicely now that the recession became a tactics deeper than any economist concept on the time. Jan. 2009. dropping 820,000 jobs in line with month. financial equipment shrinking at 9% value. Dow Jones at 7500. immediately, we’ve had almost 2 years of interest boost, the financial equipment is becoming, and the Dow is over 11,000. call it what you will, yet cleansing up after the Bush administration is an excellent interest, extremely once you have a Republican occasion like we've immediately -- doing not something yet blockading and stalling each and every thing they are able to interior the hopes of unfavorable the financial restoration to regain ability. It’s ill. i encourage you to make certain out “new spending” numbers. via 2017, Obama would have had a tactics much less “new spending” than GW. unquestionably, you wouldn’t blame Obama for having to pay for the wars, the prescription drug software, the tax cuts for the wealthy...could you?

i don't think libs hate America. I do believe there are different views on whats Good for our county. I'm neither dem or rep. But i do see things and tend to agree more conservatively. I am neither because I don't agree with 100% on either side. But i think the answer to your question is both sides want to be 100% right. So any change made by dems a rep would say they are trying to change are country. And that is the most damaging response to dems. Thus they hate America. Most of us like the way we live and don't want change. Sure i can see where i think some improvements can be made but for the most but just leave it alone. We already live where grass is greener. And No I don't think libs are America Haters. They Just think differently than I.

As far as talking points and phrases: don't pretend you've never read an Al Franken book, or eaten Michael Moore's feces on film. The word "quagmire" comes instantly to mind. Furthermore, there are thousands of empty arguments on the liberal side, too. For instance, "Bush is a dumb asshole." Gee, thanks, never heard that one before.
To answer the gist of your question, people say that liberals hate America because a lot of them do. Liberalism lives on the left, and the left supports forms of government that are decidedly not American (communism coupled with socialism, for instance).
And no, the point of democracy (and in fact government in general) is not to be questioned. The point of a democracy is to have equal voice and representation in government. America is not, however, a democracy. We are a democratic republic.
To be sympathetic for a moment, the people saying that liberals hate America are woefully uninformed conservatives that will "love" America when it is no longer America, for the most part. They speak loudly, using lines fed to them by Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly about hating liberals because they are conservatives, and resistent to change. That is the base philosophy of conservativism. The base philosophy of liberalism is to instigate change. In another 50 years, the party's ideals will have flip-flopped, just as they have in the past.

The founding fathers of the US were considered liberals but, by current definition, they would be called radically conservative. The modern definition of liberal is radical left wing, ie, communist/socialist. To meet their desires, the US Constitution has to be systematically destroyed by making the Federal government stronger and stronger, which means higher and higher taxes and fewer and fewer personal liberties. Destroying the Constitution can easily be seen as hating America or at least the America that was the beacon of personal liberties and whose Capitalist economic system and republican government system that often rewarded hard work with personal success.

Well put. The other thing I cannot stand is being called a "Bush Basher"... another catchy little phrase thought up by Rove or Limbaugh. The Republicans/Conservatives have been bashing Clinton for years. Liberals generally don't say they are Clinton bashers or Clinton haters. Although it has gotten to a point that much of it is hate. Why can't I disagree with Bush without being accused of hating him or being a Bush Basher.

I've found that the only people who says things like libs hate America or libs support terrorism are hard line Bushies who paint anyone who doesn't agree with their position as a liberal, a socialist, a terrorist lover, jobless and useless, etc etc etc. They are part of the last vestiges of the "I Love Bush" club and they hate anyone who doesn't fall in line. I wish they'd realize they sound just as wild-eyed and over-the-top as the "tree huggers" they demonize. If nothing else, the experience has cemented my moderate views on almost everything. Extremism sucks, to use appropriate slang, no matter which direction it comes from.

Complicated question.
I will try to summarize:
When a president or Congress decides to take military action, the support of the American ppl is crucial. Now, how do they gain that support especially for a controversial situation that has a questionable threat level?
First, they call to each citizens sense of patriotism. Of course we all do love our country in the end... even if we gripe about things. NOBODY wants to or will immediately stand up and say NO NOT ME.
This is where they are rallying the ppl... the masses for their cause.
Ok next, they have to deal with the ppl or protesters... and what if those protesters have a valid argument? How do you void that argument to the pt that ppl won't even listen to it? Because if ppl listen, they might not support the war.
You put them on the defense. You ostracize them. IE, the Dixie Chics. Anyone not 'behind the president of the United States of America' or that questions the president of the United States of America is IMMEDIATELY attacked.
This accomplishes two things:
1. You alienate them. Those who are questioning become fearful of 'asking questions'.
2. You re-enforce a 'blind following' of support.
I hope that answers your question but in reality it is even deeper. I am of the belief that those whom question their leadership when it SHOULD be in question, are the true patriots.
I wonder what would have happened if the Germans would have stopped long enough to question Hitler? What if they would have stood up and said, "Ummm what are you doing? Could this be wrong?"
One last note, there is an OLD historical method for wars that goes back to the Romans, to rally support there are three main goals you must do to your enemy.
1. Dehumanize them.
2. Demonize them.
3. Demoralize them.

It's demonization of what people don't like. Everyone does it, especially in politics. I'm just glad that they just call us names instead of actually killing us like they do in other countries or making us "mysteriously dissapear". We're welcome to our opinions just as much as they are. Although I am very sick of being called a terrorist, gay, baby-killer, or America hater (none of which are true), I guess I try hard to not let it get to me. Sometimes it does though.
Thanks for being understanding though. It's a welcome refreshment in the political section.
Goodnight :-)
