what kind of friends do you have? first of all this is an important desicion, I'm sure you thought it through, so they should be supportive, second, they should be proud of you for being so brave for having a child to raise yourself and for being so independant, wish you all the luck in the world, hope everything turns out all right...

I have been asked if I would have a child by myself and ,personally, no I wouldn't because I feel a child should have both parents. If the parents get divorced or one parent dies it's hard enough but if the child doesn't have a father from the start I'm afraid it would lead to the child feeling empty or inadequate. similar to how adopted children feel. That's a hard question because you can't really think for the unborn child but in the end you do what you feel is right.

I think it is too hard to cope with a kid alone..being able to balance free time, work, house tasks and spending time with the kid... It is hard enough for me to survive with a mortgage on a single income... and no dependants.. I cant imagine what it would be like having a child, cos i hardly get to sleep already, always working and paying bills... Although, I too have always wanted to be a single father....just cant find the child... and being gay, cant quite go out and impregnate a girl can I!? And in Oz, it is far too hard to adopt......despite people overseas literally wanting to give their babies away.... !

If you can handle it, I don't see a problem. But it is hard. No matter how hard you think it will be, it is worse. Sometimes, it is nice to say "here Daddy, do something. I'm taking a break!"

I think you are brave. Take the bull by the horns and go with it. Just don't blame your children for your decision.

Single mom's are strong and independent. They seem to be "go-getter's". Go for it!!
