Apple will say 500 but the size of the songs is what really matters on how many it will hold the most I ever got on my was 439

It holds up to 500 songs, but if you use it for pics or other files it will reduce the amount of songs you can have in it.

they say 500 but that's based on like four minute songs- it's gonna vary by how long your songs are and stuff. so somewhere around there.
