Not now, and maybe not at all. He should have been tried in the International Court (but US Admin avoids acknowledging the institution except where it suits it - to avoid international law being applied to its own citizens). That would have distanced US and Iraq politics from process and judgement. Saddam should have also been tried for genocide (of Kurds) and related war crimes - a case now invalidated. That would have endorsed the rule of international law (again US disfavors!). And life imprisonment is a far more painful punishment than death which is quickly done with. Where's the sting in death - especially for anyone with any belief at all in a Hereafter and rewards for "martyrs"? As it has been enacted, Saddam's trial and execution is just one more folly to add to the stupidities of the Iraq adventure. Amongst other things, it perpetuates the stupidity of violence and retribution which the Shia and Sunni of Iraq are destroying themselves with - and that is the same mentality with which George Shrub lashed out at Iraq in the first place. A demonstration of the rule of law, and its non-violent resolution, would have achieved something. Saddam's hanging achieved nothing useful for anybody - least of all, respect for USA, the rule of law, and international justice.

Saddam and sentenced him to death for his role in the killings of 148 Shiite Muslims from a town where assassins tried to kill the dictator in 1982. Iraq's highest court rejected Saddam's appeal Monday and ordered him executed within 30 days.

I had to do a project on the last fifty years and i decided to do a section on Saddam Hussein. As i was researching, i couldn't really find anything bad about him besides the genocide. That does sound a little bad but he actually revolutionized the Iraqi government.
Please go look it up. Do not just believe everthing you hear. Do a little research.

No way.
His 'trial' was flawed. It should have been on 'neutral soil' before a 'neutral judge'.
Islamic law states that people over the age of 60 should not be executed. He was 69.
I feel strongly that a miscarriage of justice was carried out today.
Execution is wrong.
(Yes I'm ready for all the thumbs downs)

Let the world take notice. USA is the only Superpower left, and can do anything to any nation or their leader. The only difference is WE USE OUR POWER FOR GOOD. We only take out genocidal dictators that are a threat to world peace. We took out Nazi German, Fascist Italy, Imperial Japan in WWII, the EVIL worldwide Communist Empire....so Iran and N. Korea watch out---- you are next!!
We could easily use our power to take over other nations and their wealth but we do not. That proves the USA is the GOOD in the age old battle of GOOD vs. BAD. The proof is in the pudding or the USA.....every race and nationality want to immigrate to the USA.

Oh, this is a really good question....ummm, I'm not into death penalties BUT in Saddams case....DANG YES! This guy was PURE EVIL at it's best! To many innocent people were tortured and killed thanks to this demon...and I believe hanging was not enough, perhaps he should've been tortured first before being hung!
Let's just all hope and pray that the sickos that believe in him still today don't retaliate and make things worse then it is in Iraq.
PEACE!!!

Let's put it this way...you think the sh*t has hit the fan...you ain't seen nothin' yet. This was a tremendous tactical error on the part of the US. Many innocent American lives will be lost - innocent people will pay the price for their country's bravado.

I don't know; I don't believe a word the media tells me anymore. I definately think hanging is morally wrong, and it's horrendous that the death penalty was carried out in this way.
