"Swords To Plowshares" is a San Francisco Non-profit created by Vietnam combat veterans to support and assist other combat veterans, and veterans in general. The first and only Director of "Swords" is named Michael Blecker.
Swords runs several programs for Veterans in including Legal Services, counselors and case workers, employment and housing and a rehabilitation program at Treasure Island.
Swords staff works veterans on issues like Social Security, Veteran Affairs Compensation and Pensions, representing veterans with the VA in a effort to win awards for the services that veterans are illegible and deserving but must apply appropriately and in a very accurate manner.
Because returning Veterans are often suffering from disability, mental health crisis, homeless, hunger and without shelter, the job of assisting them takes a good grasp of the situation and experience deal with other government organizations and offices like Veterans Affairs Office that make decision on specific cases for approval.
