if so isnt there a more humane way of killing these animals? ive seen videos of chickens getting stepped on, sheep getting their necks slit where its halfway dangling, and cows that are turned upside down and necks slit while their trachea is pulled out. shouldnt we have a less painful way to kill the animals that we eat?

Slitting the throat is mainly a Jewish practice making the meat "Kosher". Most modern slaughter houses stun the animals electrically before giving a killing blow. It isn't pretty but if you eat meat that is how you get it.

Most cattle are killed by an electrical shock to the skull or something called a bang stick (essentially a shotgun slug into the skull). I would have to guess the animals you are seeing being hung upside down and slit at the throat were dead long before being strung up and sliced to allow the blood to drain out.

As a teenager I worked in hog slaughterhouse. The hog was run from the corral up a narrow chute that closed behind it. The "executioner" shot a steel rod through the side of its' head. The side to the chute was raised and the hog would fall out on its' side, brain dead but still nerve-twitching. A rear foot was shackled and the hog would hang by one foot upside down, ready for gutting.

Hi wtfit, They kill cattle with a large hammer. This whole thing just makes me sick. That's probably why i hardly eat meat.

I don't think so. I think they hit them on the head with big hammers, or zap them with electric shocks. Much quicker than bleeding to death.

it's the healthiest way, would you want to drink blood while eating?
but i reckon that burning the animal or electrecuting it is more "Humane"?
