as far as locks that read your finger print - i do not feel that they are worth the money - most locks can be picked or bumped as they say in the biz.
i would say the best lock on the market is medco - they are around $ 150 to $ 200 for a dead bolt - but a very fine lock

On the contrary there the same locks sold by the locksmiths. The type of lock you buy and how you install it is what counts.I prefer the type that mounts to the door frame and has the receiver inside the house rather than the one that just goes straight into the frame. The reason for this is you can use longer screws that will go into the wood behind the frame ( casing)use a 3 1/2" or 4' screw. If you look around and find ,I believe there called a barrel type , it has a receiver with 2 lopes on the receive and 3 loops counting 2 pins on the door part that move up into the receiver. Sold At Lowe's, Home Depot and better hardware stores. *

All locks only keep out the honest people! No matter how good or expensive the lock, if a crook wants in badly enough, he'll find a way. You can get good locks at Home Depot, or crummy ones from a locksmith. It all depends on what you're willing to pay. In locks, you get what you pay for. But remember too, the bigger and stronger the lock, the more tempting it is to burglars. A big lock usually means something really valuable inside, in their view.

You get what you pay for but I think they are all pretty secure, the better ones might last longer.
Personally, if I was worried about door security, I'd do research on the subject of door and door frame reinforcement. If you have wooden doors, they say the door frame is the weak link. The door locks into the door frame and the door frame simply breaks when somebody kicks down your door.
I've included some links that talk about how doors fail during forced entry. The links also contain products that can be installed to reinforce existing doors.

The more expensive the better they will be.
Frankly most locks can be picked, but a good
deadbolt with added metal backing will help prevent
someone from breaking into your house because
a thief won't take time to pick the lock and will only
attempt a few kicks at the door to break it.

If you get the "Better "locks there as good as any, it doesn't matter what locks you put on. I put a very good expensive lock on a teachers door once, she insisted it be there. it was broken into, you see the door was glass and only tempered. I couldn't get this through her head. she tried to sue me. It's only as good as the rest of the house. I have always said in 47 years, there isn't many houses that I can't get into with two screw drivers. What is a crook thinking.

I just depends on the brand, and the kind of lock you get from Home Depot. They sell the cheaper locks, and more expensive name brand locks. Do your research on the lock you need. If you go with a good brand and type of lock they are as secure as anyplace else.

Hello,
I feel that all locks are the same and that it makes no difference whether it is Home Depot or Home Hardware. A lock, is a lock.

I think they are pretty good. My friend lives in a rougher part of town and she bought her locks there.
