Never. They still believe they have the right to impose their religion in the whole world. A never-ending ambition which will never be satisfied. Fortunately, they are the ones to be judged for such thoughts. It's just a pity that they don't know it.
the question was about 'extremists', wasn't it? So before giving the thumbs down, read well, please.
Who kills in the name of God, Allah, whatever name u give to him???? not normal people.

Contrary to what some think, Jesus did not teach tolerance and tolerance is not a Christian "virtue". Jesus taught Christianity and Himself as the way to God--He said not to be friends with the world but to separate from the world. Tolerance is an American ideal intended to allow everyone freedom to live by and express their beliefs. It is a good idea too. The reason many Christians do not get along is because they do not tolerate those in other denominations who differ. And everyone believes God want them to stand up for their beliefs, not tolerate "false doctrine".Muslims are the same. In times past Christians believed violence was the answer. Anyway it does no good to reason with Muslim extremists about tolerance--they have an agenda that has little to do with religion or tolerance.

They Never Will. This is because the Quaran teaches that violence is acceptable. History also teach us that violence (when all else fail) is the answer. Ending slavery in the U.S. is a typical example of this. Niccolo Machiavelli said something to the effect of, "Prophets become martyrs but armed prophets win" (From "The Prince" ),and this is more often proven than not. Thus we will probably have to war it out with them.
If you mean by "tolerate and accept" that one should try his utmost to live peaceably with his neighbors and tolerate and accept that they like all of us are flawed human beings subject to weakness and a corrupt nature which are in need of your prayers then we are in agreement.
If on the other hand you mean that a Christian should accept that homosexuals are not perverted sinners but are rather, just normal healthy people living a different kind of life style.(Ayn Rand and George Orwell were both atheistic and saw homosexuals as perverts) Or that Anglicans, Baptist(s), and Catholics (Muslims, pagan(s), and atheist(s) for that matter.) should all join some irrastional ecumenical concil which trys to find unity in dyametricaly opposed theological or anti-theological paradymes or some other delution of the incoherent post-modern mind then I for the sake of logic must oppose you.
I wouldn't make a Jewish employee work on Saterday or invite him over for dinner only to surprise him with ham and shellfish. We should all treat each other with respect but that dosen't mean one should compromise his religious convictions for the sake of being amicable or approved of by the majority. (they are usally wrong anyway)

When "first world" extremists learn that they need to stop disrespecting and rejecting others.
George Bush invaded bc "he could", the Palestinians have been landless and homeless bc first worlders decided that everybody but them counted, etc.
Understand that I'm not an apologist for ANY extremist, including Muslim ones. I've lived long enough to learn and to know that ALL extremism is automatically bad, real bad, for everyone and everything. Look at Timothy McVeigh, our own home grown extremist--and he's not the only one or the first. The Call, The Order, the KKK.
There's an old saying: No justice, no peace.
Without justice, then you automatically give rise to no peace for anyone, anywhere.

Form my experience, from the war that is tearing this world apart, and from the segregation of people with different beliefs, I don't think that any overly religious person can live is peace with the people around them. How many times in the Bible did God tell the Israelites to kill everyone for the land that was "rightfully theirs". We need to forget religion as a whole, and get back to what is naturally within our hearts, being Love and Peace. Religions have made it so much more complicated than it has to be.
God is God. He is not necessarily the god of Christians, or of Islam. He is God, a higher power that manifests itself in Nature, and to try to put any definition to that is fool hearted and ill advised.

Well you should realize that people who commit these violent acts are not Muslims..although they may claim to be..You can't hate an entire religion because of what you think..You should give reading a chance rather than listening to the what the media tells you..
