I think that our perception of our "purpose" changes as we go through life. As a woman, it often feels like I have more than one "purpose", with being a mother to my child as my first and foremost. I used to believe my purpose was one thing. Now at middle age I am not sure anymore. As your children get older they need you less and less (on an immediate basis, they still of course need you, but you become more free to pursue other things over time). Before children I saw my purpose as one thing - being a healer, in my career, and in my home - but now that I've raised kids I feel that it's been sucked out of me and I have nothing left! I wonder what is next - and then I wonder... if I don't "find" my new purpose, is my life over?

I think not a single person has a defined purpose in life. Some view opinions like destiny and believe in a purpose in life. However, I think I should take life as it comes, for there are twists and turns that no one but an almighty power can see.

If everybody had already found their purpose in life, this question would be extremely easy to answer. However, not everybody can find their purpose in life and those that do, only know when they have found it. This can be a few minutes before they die or obviously at some time during their lives.
Until this point in time, I think our purpose in life is to survive and find out what our purpose actually is.
To get back to your question, my purpose in life is to look after my family as yet, and this will never change, but who knows what is around the corner, new opportunities etc. etc. etc. A split second happening can change anyone's life, so I reckon one can only know one's purpose, really, at the end of one's life, as then time as run out...if you understand what I mean?

There's no way to know. People with "purpose" can find that purpose coming unraveled by circumstance at any time, for no apparent reason.
Some people believe that "God" has a purpose and plan just for little old them. Everything that ever happened in the past happened just the way it did so they would exist right now with that "purpose" - and of course their "purpose" cannot be just a precursor for the "purpose" of someone in the future, even though the people in the past had to serve that function for them.
It's the height of self-centeredness.

To live my best life possible...that mans being real to myself and others. Treating people as I want to be treated. We are all put on this earth to demonstrate the love that Godshowed us. Tha is my purpose and one I strive to do daily.

Dear Friend
I hate to say it, but it seems to be kind of a game or competition. And it is as simple as good versus evil.
The idea is to live your life as wholly, excitingly, fully as possible WITHOUT hurting or damaging people around you. Challenge yourself to be good, think good, do good.
Sounds easy, but it isn't

i think my purpose in life is to serve other people in whatever capacity is needed..that's not supposed to sound preachy. i'm not especially good or any thing. i just feel like i'm supposed to take care of people, esp children. hopefully to make life easier and make people feel loved and cherished
