welllllll ok this is easier said than done but,
--people like it when you're genuinely interested in them, so ask questions to potential friends..that might spark conversation and maybe even friendship.
--smile a lot, to everyone. if you smile, you will instantly become more approachable!
--repeat their name in coversations, i've heard that it works and people like you more for it...it shows them that you care about them
--share stuff about yourself that you normally keep secret. it builds trust.

ok, and on a more basic level: treat others like you would want to be treated! being honest is great, but you can't be brutal about it or people will hate your guts! I mean, just put yourself in their shoes for a second.

It's hard to build friendships outside of school because you're with those people the majority of the time. I suggest getting involved with your community. Find something you like to do- it could be a sport, dance class, volunteering at the animal shelter-and you will meet new people who go to a different school or are homeschooled.
Again, it's easier said than done and takes practice, but you can do it! good luck!

You need to get out of the house and be involved with real living people. You can't go far on the internet getting to know people. I had a friend on the internet that I met 4 years ago, and we stopped talking just a few months ago. For a solid relationship, join a club of some sort, or join an extra-curricular activity.

Join a club, gym, or church and be outgoing!
Don't be scared to ask for a lunch "date" or a time to "hang out." I know it might sound scary at first, but this is how you can meet very interesting people outside of school.

Buy 100 pieces of bubble gum. Bring them to school in a big sack that you drape over your back. Then start handing them out, and presto: 100 friends.

Try inviting one or two people, whose company you enjoy, to your home for an afternoon---or to the mall or to hang at a local event. If one person says no, ask another.
